Celo Friends Meeting announces a Special Informational Meeting:
Status of Immigration Issues in North Carolina
Sunday July 23, 2017, 1 PM, at The Celo Friends Meeting House
The Celo Friends Meeting is pleased to sponsor a talk by Lori Fernald Khamala, who is knowledgeable about the current status of immigrant issues in North Carolina especially around sanctuary. She is in charge of the North Carolina Immigrant Rights Program for the American Friends Service Committee (Office of the Carolinas) and will offer insight into these complex issues and what strategies are being used to address them. Lori has been at the center of organizing the sanctuary for Juana Luz Tobar Ortega at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Greensboro.
The Celo Friends Meeting is located at 70 Meeting House Lane in Celo, Yancey County, North Carolina. All are welcome.
