Friend Joe Holbert announced his, and fellow Black Mountain residents’, concern about an application by a funeral home to add a crematorium facility. There is a meeting of the Town’s Board of Aldermen on October 10 to vote on the zoning variance required for the facility to be built on State Street, adjacent to many shops and a couple of blocks from the Friends’ Meetinghouse. Joe cited studies that indicate the possibility of toxic emissions from the facility; however, not all studies agree. Contact Joe about signing a petition. Follow this link for more data about the possible impact.
