A Sacred Circle Dance will be held at Swannanoa Valley Friends Meetinghouse on the third Friday of each month, from 7:30 pm to 9 pm, starting September 16. These will be led by Maggie Moon O’Neill. Teens and adults are welcome.
The dances are simple, repetitive steps set to beautiful music from all over the world. They allow the dancer to shut off the brain and become immersed in the flow of the movements. The experience of dancing in a circle builds community and harmony in any group, and may leave participants deeply relaxed and at peace.
No previous dance experience or partners are needed; suggested donation is $8, with proceeds to benefit the Meetinghouse and Right Sharing of World Resources.
Maggie recently moved to Black Mountain, NC, from Richmond, VA, where she and her family have been members of Richmond Friends Meeting for over 30 years. Maggie has led Sacred Circle Dance for local, regional, and national Quaker gatherings since the 90s. She is delighted to share Sacred Circle Dance with Swannanoa Friends and their friends and neighbors.
