At the Rise of Meeting for Worship, on July 31, 2016, Friend Suchi Lathrop shared information about an upcoming training session on diverse methods of peaceful protest, from vigils to non-violent civil disobedience. Sponsored by the Asheville SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice), the session will be held on Saturday, August 13, from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Asheville. The suggested fee is $25 per person, including lunch, coffee, breakfast snacks.
The trainers, Clare Hanrahan* and Coleman Smith, hope this training will equip people “to work…in disciplined, unified groups, taking actions to confront all kinds of injustices, with emphasis on confronting racism. ” Childcare may be available, but please contact Elizabeth Schell soon for childcare needs: email@example.com.
