ROM Announcements, May 22, 2016

  • A Friend shared information about a gathering of Quakers to occur June 28 to July 2, in Barnesville, Ohio.  This a moving spiritual event that brings Friends from a wide range of Quaker practices, from liberal to conservative, programmed and unprogrammed, to listen to each other and to the Spirit.  You can find more at this website:
  • A Friend reported that a favorite greenhouse and nursery in Old Fort, called Painter’s Greenhouse, recently received threats related to the infamous “HB2”.  When the town council of Old Fort approved a motion in support of this discriminatory bathroom bill, the owners of Painters made clear that they did not agree.   As a consequence, some town residents made threats against Greenhouse employees.  Friends should visit the nursery and show support for their courage and concern; they are only open to the public from March through June.  You can find information at their website,
  • A long-time Friend and SVFM member underwent knee repair surgery this past Friday, and all went well.  She will be transferring to a rehab facility on Monday, May 23.
  • Friend Sheridan Hill reminded us about the “Life and Grief Circle” that gathers at the Meetinghouse.  The next meeting of this Circle is this Tuesday, May 24, starting at 5:30 PM.  Please contact Sheridan for more information.
